Greedy Williams Injury

American football cornerback Andraez Montrell “Greedy” Williams (born December 3, 1997) plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He attended LSU for college football and was picked by the Browns in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Cornerback Greedy Williams suffered a hamstring injury on Friday and was placed on injured reserve by the Cleveland Browns. Williams will miss at least four games due to suspension. In Williams’ stead, the Browns promoted cornerback Herb Miller from the practice squad.

The plan was for Williams to start opposite Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward. Third-round pick Martin Emerson Jr. of Mississippi State is expected to start in Williams’ stead. Emerson scored a touchdown on an interception return in Cleveland’s exhibition game against Jacksonville.

Ever since the Browns picked him up in the second round of the 2019 draft, Williams has had to deal with injury problems. Due to shoulder surgery, he was sidelined for the whole 2020 campaign. Williams returned to action last season and started eight games. On Sunday, the Browns will make their season debut against the Panthers.

Martin Emerson Jr., a newcomer, is slated to take Williams’ place. Stefanski exclaimed, “very excited about his improvement” after the player had “done everything we’ve asked him to do out here on the practice fields, in the meeting room, and has performed well in the preseason.”

Quite the opposite, in fact. Obviously, I’ve been doing this my whole life because it’s football,” Emerson explained. Just playing is what I’ve been waiting for. Emerson started all three preseason games, scoring a score on an interception return in the first game against Jacksonville.

Williams was selected 46th overall in this year’s NFL Draft and has appeared in 28 games during his professional career. After sustaining a serious injury to the axillary nerve in his shoulder, he was sidelined for the entire year of 2020.

He ruptured his Achilles tendon on the same day as Williams’ former LSU teammate, safety Grant Delpit, tore his ACL during training camp. Last year, he played in 16 games, started eight of them, and had two interceptions.

Williams, who sat out his freshman season due to a suspension of junior Kevin Toliver II, has been promoted to the starting lineup. Williams continued to play in the starting role for the rest of the season, even when Toliver returned from suspension. Williams dominated the SEC as a rookie, setting league records for interceptions and pass defenses.

Thus, he was voted to the first team of the Southeastern Conference. He joined only two other LSU players from before his time to make the All-SEC squad (the other being Brad Wing in 2011). Williams stated on December 2 that he would be entering the 2019 NFL Draft, skipping out on his last two years of college eligibility.
