When Fabio Carvalho was leaving Fulham, he spoke with Jurgen Klopp about his desire to join Liverpool. The Reds signed the 19-year-old Portuguese playmaker from the Cottagers in May after a deadline-day deal for the teenager fell through in January. He was determined to seal the deal and signed Carvalho, who scored 10 goals in the Championship last season, for an initial fee of £6.8 million, with the option for a further fee of £7.7 million.
In his first formal interview after moving from west London to Merseyside, Carvalho set grandiose objectives of becoming the finest player in the world and declared that in order to realize his dream, he had to move to An field.
In order to be the best player in the world you need to play with the best, Carvalho said on Liverpool’s club website. In other words, that’s my job. Carvalho was swayed by Klopp’s track record of nurturing young players. All three players signed by Jurgen Klopp came from lower-league clubs, but the German manager has transformed them into world-class players.
A key reason for Carvalho’s decision to join Liverpool was the belief that the Bundesliga and the German Premier League could help to develop one of Championship football’s brightest stars. When asked about Klopp’s influence, he stated, “One of the key reasons that I joined is because of him.”
Fabio Carvalho has officially completed his move to #LFC 😍

Because of what I’ve seen him do with other players, I’m confident he’ll be able to help me succeed. Carlos Carvalho scored 11 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Fulham’s Championship-winning team, which swept to victory in their first season of existence.
In addition to his ten league goals and eight league assists in 36 games in England’s second division, the Portuguese youth international is one of only nine Championship players to have eight or more goals and assists.
Morgan Gibbs-White of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Harry Wilson, a former Liverpool winger, are just a few of the players with better records than Carvalho’s.
There are several players ahead of him in the Liverpool striker ranks: Mohamed Salah, Luiz Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Darwin Nunez, and Harvey Elliott.
