Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.’s detractors have come under fire from Ricky Hatton, who maintains that no boxer should be held to a higher standard because they are the offspring of legendary fighters.
The anticipated fight on Saturday night between Chris Eubank Jr., the son of Chris Eubank Sr., and Conor Benn, the son of Nigel Benn, appears to be in risk right now.
This fight is significant because Nigel and Chris Sr. fought in an unforgettable pair of bouts in the early 1990s, and now their kids want to carry on their legacy.
Since entering the professional ranks, Conor and Chris Jr. have both had to cope with a great deal of pressure. Campbell Hatton, the son of Ricky, is one person who is all too familiar with this feeling.
In his young professional boxing career, Campbell is 8-0 with two knockouts, but he has already faced intense scrutiny and had to compete on some of the sport’s biggest platforms.
In boxing, there will always be some who compare dads and sons, but Ricky had some harsh words for those who go too far.
Ricky stated to Boxing Social that “they should be out of their father’s shadows, all three, just for trying.”
You are aware that this is the hardest game ever. They didn’t have to, but Campbell had me as a dad, Chris had Chris as his dad, and Conor had Nigel.

We put in a lot of effort so that our children wouldn’t have to, so it pisses me off when people, albeit a small minority, turn around and say things like, “You’re not as good as your dad,” “You’re not this,” or “You’re not that.
To be honest, I believe they want their heads bashed in.
“With the strain they’re under, how can you not look back and not simply stand back and say, ‘Fair play to you lads’?”
Having said that, it appears Conor and Chris Jr. won’t have to worry about stepping out of their father’s shadow on Saturday night since their fight appears to be in jeopardy after ‘The Destroyer’ tested positive for the illegal drug clomifene.
The British Boxing Board of Control [BBBoC], which has declared the fight to be “prohibited,” is currently being circumvented by Conor, Chris Jr., and their respective promotional companies, who both want the fight to take place.
Ricky also expressed his opinions to Boxing Social regarding this matter, saying: “I know Conor and I know Chris would have worked very hard. The crowd has been anticipating this significant fight.
“It’s an outrage to learn that Saturday’s main event may not go on as planned, but everything must be done for the correct reasons and the boxers’ safety.
It’s just a shame since everyone on the programme, including the main event, has worked so hard. Let’s just keep an eye on this. “I’m sure whatever choice is made, it will be the right decision, but it’s just a shame.”
