Los Angeles will host the Rockies in a season opener against a Los Angeles team for the first time. All of the Rockies’ games so far this season have taken place at Coors Field, where they’ve been victorious against their NL West rivals.
With Kyle Freeland (4-5, 4.31 ERA) scheduled to start for the Colorado Rockies tonight, Even though he gave up three earned runs in his last outing against the Dodgers, he still managed to win the game. Throughout the month of June, Freeland made nearly all solid starts, going six or seven innings in every game he began. It’s possible that the Rockies might win a game at Dodger Stadium if he continues to perform at a high level.
The Rockies announced today that they have recalled RHP Justin Lawrence from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned RHP Ashton Goudeau to Triple-A.

There will be Julio Urias on the other side of Freeland (6-6, 2.64 ERA). The Rockies may have trouble with Uras’ pitching. They were unable to do much damage last time they played him, with three runs on six hits and an earned run total of 0 for 6. Only one of the Rockies’ four games at Coors Field in late June ended in defeat.
