Jake Haener Injury

Several members of the USC Trojans team have been hurt. In the game against Fresno State, both Travis Dye and Bobby Haskins suffered injuries. But the Bulldogs were hurt by the game’s most serious injury.

Fresno State’s starting quarterback Jake Haener, who led his team to a victory against UCLA in September 2021 and has since gained a reputation as a no-nonsense leader who would go to any lengths for his teammates, was seriously injured in the second half of their game against USC on Saturday night.

Initially, it appears that the damage is an ankle, but as more information becomes available, we will learn more. This is a huge loss for the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Pac-12 Conference as a whole, as the guy in question is a talented football player who is well-liked and regarded by his peer’s thanks to his time spent at the University of Washington.

After Haener went down with an injury on Saturday night, the entire tone of the game shifted. Early in the third quarter, Fresno State was only down 11. With Haener at quarterback, the Bulldogs had to believe they had a shot at a second-half comeback.

Jake Haener, Fresno State’s quarterback, suffered a high ankle sprain in the third quarter of their game against USC on Saturday night and had to be taken off the field. It is not expected that Haener’s injury will end his season, according to Bulldogs head coach Jeff Tedford.

On the Bulldogs’ opening possession of the second half, USC defensive tackle Solomon Byrd sacked Haener in the backfield. Haener had the ball stripped from him on the sack (which was recovered by Byrd).

but he appeared to have his right leg and ankle entangled under a number of defenders. Haener stayed down, in obvious discomfort, until he was taken off the field. Eventually, he made it back to the bench, this time with crutches and a boot on his right foot.

Haener, who decided to return to Fresno State for his senior year, had thrown for 117 yards and a touchdown on 10 of 18 passing before leaving the game.

The final score was 45–17, with the victory going to the Trojans. Haener, who began his collegiate career at Washington before transferring to Fresno State as a sophomore, has expressed excitement about playing USC as the underdog this week. He has said that he has always wanted to play for the Trojans because of his Northern California upbringing.

Haener made a comment earlier this week, “I wanted that offer but tiny Jake Haener wasn’t tall enough and didn’t have enough stars next to his name.” To quote, “I finally get to play there.”

Fresno State scored on their first drive after Haener left the game thanks to backup quarterback Logan Fife’s stellar performance. The drive consisted of six plays.
