James Harden

According to a video provided to Barstool Sports on Saturday, James Harden threw his own birthday cake over a yacht and received $250,000 in cash from Lil Baby.

The 33-year-old point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers celebrated his special day with a yacht party attended by such celebrities as Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, and Travis Scott and Future of the rap scene.

Harden recently shared a photo of his white four-tier birthday cake on Instagram with the caption “Larry Bird,” a nod to the former Celtics player’s jersey number.

It looks like the same cake he threw over the side of the yacht later that night. According to his lack of interest in the cake, Sixers leader James Harden appears to be taking his summer workouts and diet extremely seriously. To everyone’s shock, the Beard threw the cake over the side and into the water.

For the 2022-23 season, Harden will be a crucial cog for the Sixers, thus it stands to reason that he would like to maintain a healthy weight. After putting in so much time and effort over the summer, Philadelphia’s star guard appears to be poised to spearhead a deep playoff run.

The Oklahoma City Thunder used the third overall pick on Harden in the 2009 NBA draft. During the 2009-10 NBA season, he had the fourth-highest 3-point percentage (.375) for a player younger than 21 (minimum 150 tries). Over the course of two games (November 18 and 20), he made seven consecutive 3-pointers, the most by a rookie since Houston guard Michael Dickerson made eight in a row in May of 1999.

On December 7, 2009, he scored a season-high 26 points against the Golden State Warriors. After the season, the NBA selected him to the second team of all-rookie squads. In the 2010-2011 season, he had 54 games where he scored 10 points or more, with his season-high coming on March 6, 2011, against the Phoenix Suns, when he scored 26.

Harden won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 62 games (two starts) during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season.

As a matter of fact, Harden only missed four games with double-digit scoring. On April 18, 2012, against the Phoenix Suns, he scored a season-high 40 points, becoming the first NBA reserve player to score 40 points since Dallas guard Rodrigue Beaubois in March 2010. The Thunder advanced to the 2012 NBA Finals thanks to Harden’s efforts, but they were swept by the Heat in five games.

Oklahoma City pursued re-signing Harden to a four-year, $52 million to $55 million deal extension during the 2012 free agency season. Harden then claimed he wasn’t given enough time to think about accepting the deal.
