J. Anthony Randle (born December 12, 1967) is a retired American football player who played defensive lineman for the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks (NFL).
He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on February 6, 2010. He was born in Mumford, Texas, grew up in poverty, and worked as a child in several odd jobs to help make ends meet. For eight seasons, his brother Ervin was a linebacker in the National Football League. During his time at Hearne High School, Randle was a member of the football team.

The NFL announced in March 2004 that John Randle has announced his retirement from the game.
For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Randle tested out but was deemed to be too small, and was not offered a contract. On Don Deisch’s recommendation, the Minnesota Vikings drafted the 6’1″ 244-lb defensive tackle after the draught.
The Vikings told Randle that he wouldn’t be picked up unless he increased his weight to at least 250 pounds, but he was only at 244 pounds when he was weighed.
