Kayvon Thibodeaux a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants, suffered a knee injury in the team’s preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night and did not return.
It had been initially assumed that Thibodeaux’s injuries are not life-threatening.”Not to worry, though; I’m fine. I’m fine, “Thibodeaux claimed he left the stadium using his own power and just limping slightly. “What can I say? So, the news is good “Then he elaborated on it afterward.
Additional examinations of Thibodeaux are scheduled for Monday. The length of time he will be absent from work depends on that.
Given the manner in which Thibodeaux was struck and his subsequent reaction, things did not look good at first. As soon as he fell down in the second quarter after being cut blocked by Bengals tight end Thaddeus Moss, he grabbed at his right knee.
Thibodeaux was treated by trainers and medical personnel on the 20-yard line. Thibodeaux’s cart had come out to meet him, but he had gotten up and was now walking away. The inexperienced member entered the blue medical tent and afterward emerged laughing and smiling. He took a long stroll down the sidelines with a trainer before entering the building.

As head coach Brian Daboll put it, “I can’t say” (yet) that anything major is ruled out. “On Sunday night, they will conduct exams, MRIs, and other diagnostic procedures to have a better understanding of the situation the following morning. Surely not, right? Sorry, I don’t know the solution to it.”
Thibodeaux was clearly taking a positive outlook. After the 25-22 preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals, he reassured his teammates that it wouldn’t have an impact on his rookie year.
The impression that Thibodeaux made was a good one. “His disposition is consistently upbeat. In any case, I pray he’s fine. During our conversation, I was able to engage him. The man is actually stepping on it.
Said he wasn’t sick, “Dexter Lawrence, who plays on defense, made this statement. “Probably just something that needs a little bit of time to heal. To be honest, I have no idea what it is. To put it bluntly, I am not a medical professional.”
In the 2022 NFL draft, Thibodeaux, then a player for the University of Oregon Ducks, was selected with the fifth overall choice. This summer he has been very productive, and he even got a sack of the quarterback in the first half of Sunday’s game.
To put it simply, the Giants have high hopes for Thibodeaux this year. Since OTAs began in the spring, he has been a part of the starting defense.
In 30 games played for Oregon, Thibodeaux recorded 19.0 sacks. Before last year’s game, he was considered by many to be the best prospect in all of college football.
“Initial optimism,” as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, existed that Thibodeaux would avoid serious injury.
Thibodeaux’s right knee was hurt after Bengal’s tight end Thaddeus Moss blocked him low. Thibodeaux was left for some time on the field before anyone came to help him. He was ruled out of the game, but he was still spotted milling around the sidelines and sharing jokes with teammates before retiring to the locker room.
Thibodeaux, the fifth overall choice, is expected to become a star for the New York Giants defensive line. In a recent interview, the 21-year-old said he wants to shatter Azeez Ojulari’s rookie record of 8.5 sacks.
Throughout training camp, Thibodeaux has impressed both coaches and teammates with his play.
Offense line coach Bobby Johnson on him: “I think he’s a fantastic player,” as quoted by Steve Serby in the New York Post. “I think he’s got everything he needs, and that’s probably why he was selected where he was.
What I see is a man who is always working and never satisfied… I see a good team player who is confident in his place on the squad and strives to improve daily; he also has a charismatic personality. I admire his modesty and dedication to his work.” Despite the fact that it appears Thibodeaux’s injury isn’t significant, the Giants will likely proceed with caution with their first selection pick.
