khris middleton injury update

According to The Athletic, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks has a Grade 2 MCL sprain and is unlikely to return during the team’s second-round series against the Boston Celtics. Middleton may also miss the conference finals if the Bucks defeat the Celtics without him.

Middleton sustained the injury during Game 2 of Milwaukee’s first-round series against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, and the organisation said that he will be assessed again in about two weeks. The Bucks lost the game in which he was injured but won the next three, including a 116-100 triumph against the Bulls on Wednesday. Grayson Allen stepped up offensively in two games, scoring a total of 62 points on 34 field-goal tries, including 14 of 20 from 3-point range.

“This season, we’ve spoken a lot about the depth and quality of our roster,” Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer said after Game 5.

“Other players have stepped up and performed well, and our defence has tightened considerably over the last three games, as we’ve relied heavily on it. However, we have depth, a strong group, and we miss Khris — I don’t believe anybody undervalues how critical and valuable he is to us. However, while he is out, we must perform at a high level across the squad.”

When the Bucks visit Boston on Sunday, they will almost certainly continue to play Bobby Portis in place of Middleton, but compensating for the lineup void will be far more difficult than it was against Chicago. Milwaukee will have to find gaps in the Celtics’ defence without its key pick-and-roll playmaker. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday will face the same kind of help defence that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving faced in the first round, although with their team’s better spacing.

Middleton’s absence will be noticed on the other end as well, as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will benefit from more favourable matchups. Boston will almost certainly target Portis in the pick-and-roll in an attempt to reintroduce the Bucks to the rotation. In contrast to the Bulls, the Celtics do not have a large number of non-shooters who can be overlooked on the perimeter. Milwaukee will need on backup wing Pat Connaughton to perform at the same level he did during last year’s championship run.

Middleton averaged 20.1 points on 57.7 per cent true shooting, 5.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 32.4 minutes per game during the regular season. According to Cleaning The Glass, the Bucks outscored opponents by 6.3 points per 100 possessions while Middleton was on the floor and by only 0.1 points per 100 possessions when he was not.

Milwaukee’s most significant injury is that of All-Star shooting guard Khris Middleton, who is still recovering from a damaged MCL. Middleton has already been ruled out of the series and may also miss the start of the conference finals if the Bucks go that far.

George Hill is Milwaukee’s other potential injury worry. The veteran’s abdominal issue has caused him to lose time in the past. Hill is unlikely to play significant minutes if he is activated, but he would be a valuable player in the rotation and has shown he can shoot the three well.

Both George Hill and Khris Middleton have been found ineligible to compete.

The Milwaukee Bucks eliminated the Chicago Bulls in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

The series was incredibly lopsided, with the Bucks winning all but one game and destroying the Bulls in the majority of games.

The Celtics, on the other hand, swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs.

The Nets are headed by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, making their inability to win a game all the more surprising.

The Celtics did not blow out the Nets in each of the four games, but they made the clutch plays that the Nets did not.

The Bucks-Celtics series has the potential to be one of the finest of the whole NBA Playoffs in 2022.
