Reports indicate that Liverpool is still in the running to sign French forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. The long-term aim of Jurgen Klopp may be on his way out of the German side.
On Friday morning, news came that the former PSG star had already had a physical with Chelsea and been offered a long-term contract by the Blues. In an interview, Fabrizio Romano stated that Chelsea is interested in signing the 24-year-old, but that no deal has been finalized.
However, Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport has put a small modification on the tale, indicating that the medical examination may not have taken place in Frankfurt as previously stated.

The reporter adds that Liverpool is still a strong contender despite an apparent agreement in principle between the player and the Chelsea leadership, who are willing to pay the €60 million release clause.
In recent months, rumors have circulated that Real Madrid is interested in signing Christopher Nkunku. It is widely anticipated that the Frenchman will leave RB Leipzig for one of Europe’s top teams due to his stellar play in recent seasons. The fact that Los Blancos aren’t the only club interested in signing him is hardly shocking.
Chelsea, on the other hand, appears to have gotten a head start on the competition as they attempt to bolster their faltering offensive front. And Nkunku might be the ideal candidate for that role. He has already established himself as a top-tier player in the Champions League and Bundesliga.
Despite Chelsea’s apparent advantage in the bidding for Nkunku, Real Madrid shows no signs of letting up. As stated by Fussball Transfers, Liverpool and Real Madrid are not giving up on signing Nkunku despite being in second and third place, respectively, to Chelsea.
The addition of Nkunku might be a huge coup for Real Madrid. His recent goal-scoring record is indicative of his quality as a modern forward, and his skillset seems to match the expectations.
Whether or not it makes it to the Premier League or La Liga is a whole different question. Successful ex-Germans include Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski. Timo Werner, on the other hand, was a bust for Chelsea. Because of this, there is no set method; rather, results vary from player to player.
It is speculated that Nkunku’s contract contains a €60 million release clause that will become active next summer, and it is safe to conclude that this is a fair transfer fee for a player who has been in top form like the Frenchman.
