Arthur Melo Transfer

The Brazilian footballer Arthur Henrique Santos Ramos de Oliveira Melo (Brazilian Portuguese: 20 de Abril de 1996), most generally known as Arthur or Arthur Melo, plays midfield for Liverpool of the Premier League, on loan from Serie A side Juventus, and the Brazil national team.

Arthur Melo, who began his career with Grêmio and won the Copa Libertadores in 2017, began his life in Goiânia. When he joined Barcelona in 2018, the club paid him an initial transfer fee of €31 million. In 2020, Arthur signed with the Italian soccer team Juventus.

Arthur Melo, who had previously been capped by Brazil at the under-17 level, earned his senior squad debut in 2018. Later, he was a key member of the team that ultimately won the 2019 Copa América.

Transfer

As Liverpool’s midfielders went down with injuries in the last stages of the summer transfer window, Jurgen Klopp conceded defeat and made a new addition to bolster his alternatives.

The deadline day deal for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo went through, and he will be joining the club on loan until the end of the 2022–2023 season in June. According to certain reports, the Reds made an offer for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, and the Old Lady was reportedly offered Konstantinos Tsimikas.

The latest transfer news from Anfield is examined by Mirror Football after the deadline has passed. In the last weeks of the summer transfer window, an injury problem in midfield forced Jurgen Klopp to concede defeat and confess that Liverpool needed a fresh acquisition to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

Ultimately, a deadline day agreement was struck for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, who will join on a season-long loan until June 2023. Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa was reportedly a target for the Reds, and Konstantinos Tsimikas was reportedly offered to the Old Lady.

In the wake of the transfer deadline, Mirror Football examines all the news coming out of Anfield.

Liverpool’s return to the transfer market was expected after injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, and Curtis Jones. Despite Jones’s full recovery this week, Jordan Henderson was added to the list after Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Newcastle United on Wednesday.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have made a late move to sign Brazilian midfielder Arthur on a season-long loan from Juventus. Arthur will join Klopp’s squad in the coming weeks and is expected to make an immediate impact.

While Arthur is yet to make an appearance for Juventus this season, he was linked to the Reds earlier this summer. Last season, Arthur was limited to just 20 Serie A matches due to injury, but it is hoped that he will not have the same fate at Anfield.

Liverpool had a number of prospective targets set up for transfer deadline day, and it was shortly announced that they had attempted to recruit Aston Villa midfielder Luiz. However, Steven Gerrard’s squad was adamant about keeping hold of Luiz, and Liverpool’s offer was rejected.

According to an update posted Transfer Centre blog on September 22, 2013, at 13:41 UTC, Liverpool made a ‘late bid’ to sign the Brazilian, but was promptly rejected and instead targeted Juventus midfielder Arthur.

Luiz, who has made 116 appearances for the midlands club, was once called “excellent” by former manager Dean Smith upon his 2019 arrival, according to BBC Sport. He has scored twice in as many games this season, including in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

Liverpool ‘offered’ the services of left defender Konstantinos Tsimikas to Juventus this week as they explored a deal for Arthur, however, the two transactions are not reported to be related.

News of the departure was first reported by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà of JuventusNews24, who also noted that Alex Sandro is the team’s only true left back.

As of now, Tsimikas has made a total of 37 appearances for the Reds since joining the team in the summer of 2020 from Greek powerhouse Olympiacos. It’s quite doubtful, though, that he would have quit without a replacement.

Arthur Melo transfer

Due to his consistent play in the Primeira Liga and Campeonato Gacho, Arthur Melo was promoted to a regular spot in the starting lineup. With a perfect passing percentage (40 for 40) on his Copa Libertadores debut, a 1-1 away draw against Club Guaran, he was named man of the match.

European clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid were interested in him because of his style of play and physical build, which drew analogies to those of Spanish midfielders Andrés Iniesta and Thiago.
