His NBA career included stops with the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers after being selected seventh overall in the 1996 draught.

His body was discovered ten days after he had gone missing, shot to death. A year and a half after his death, Sherra Wright-Robinson, Wright’s ex-wife, was charged with assisting his murder; she pled guilty.

Early Life

For his senior year at Booker T. Washington High School, Wright played for Lafayette High School in Mississippi before transferring to Memphis to play for Lafayette High School. When he lived in Memphis, he played basketball at every level from high school to professional. There is a chance that Herb, his father, and a professional basketball player, could end up playing for the Utah Jazz. Herb was disabled by a gunshot wound to the back while working for the Memphis Police Department when Wright was just seven years old.

Third Team All-American by the Associated Press during Wright’s sophomore year at Memphis. Wright was a Kappa Alpha Psi member.

He had wed Sherra Wright-Robinson, a woman with whom he had a daughter. However, the couple was divorced at the time of his death, but they’ve maintained touch because of their shared parenting duties. To add insult to injury, there was no public disclosure of his personal life. He and his ex-wife had six children together before he tragically lost their firstborn, Sierra Simone, in March 2003. Sherra was arrested in California in 2017 in connection with the player’s murder.

In reality, the football player went missing before his body was discovered, as was the case with many others. Furthermore, according to his ex-wife, he left his home in Collierville, Tennessee, on the night of July 18, 2010, with drugs and an undefined amount of money. His family reported him missing on July 22 after he hadn’t contacted them in four days.

When police arrived at the scene, they found his deceased in a forested area on Callis-Cutoff Road on July 28. Investigators determined that his death was a homicide after finding 11 gunshot wounds to various regions of his body. Sherra, his ex-wife, was detained in 2017 by authorities investigating his death. A month later, in July 2019, she admitted her guilt and was sentenced to 30 years in jail for first-degree murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend.
