After spending two loan periods at La Liga club Alaves, during which he made 35 appearances without scoring a goal, the 20-year-old was unable to secure a loan move away from the club this summer.
Even so, Pellistri has been a mainstay in the Uruguay national team, and he appears to be going to the World Cup with them. This demonstrates that the child we signed in 2020 from Penarol has some pedigree, but perhaps not enough to succeed at United under Erik ten Hag.
Gus Poyet, a former United midfielder who played for Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, has advised Pellistri to leave the club now that he is locked in the U23. Poyet urges his compatriot to leave his present club because it is unclear whether or not he will remain a starter for Uruguay if he does not see significant playing time for his club this season.
Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri, has been asked to leave Manchester United because he is not a part of Erik ten Hag's plans.

According to TeamTalk, Poyet warned Midnite that Pellistri would have a hard time seeing game time. Because the World Cup is coming up and coach Diego Alonso has a lot of faith in him (he’s a real winger), it would be beneficial for him to play for another team.
Even though Pellistri showed some promise during the preseason tour, he will have a harder time breaking into the starting lineup now that Antony has joined the team.
Poyet continued, “He has to locate a playing field.” Take Luis Suarez, for example, who is three months out from the World Cup but is now getting regular playing time and training with the first team at Nacional. The same thing needs to be done by Pellistri. Oh, by the way, Luis Suarez is 35 years old and has played almost exclusively in Europe. This is a rather feeble analogy.
Pellistri attended the Petrol youth program and has played youth football for La Picada and River Plate Montevideo. On August 11, 2019, he played in his first professional game for Petrol against Defensor Sporting, which ended in a 2-2 draw. On November 6, 2019, in a 3-1 victory over Cerro, he earned his first professional goal.
On 5 October 2020, Pellistri signed with Manchester United for a cost of almost €10 million. He has already scored in both of the preseason games he has appeared in. On July 18, 2021, in a 2-1 road victory over Derby County at Pride Park, he scored his first preseason goal. His team defeated Liverpool, 4-0, in a preseason game in Bangkok on July 12, 2022.
In 2017, Pellistri made two appearances for Uruguay at the under-16 level, making him a former youth international. On January 7, 2022, he made his debut with the senior team in World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay and Venezuela. On January 27th he debuted for his country in a 1-0 victory over Paraguay on the road.
