Marco Asensio Transfer

The Daily Telegraph has reported that forward Marco Asensio of Real Madrid is being considered for a transfer to Manchester United.

Sources told ESPN on Thursday that the Red Devils are more interested in signing Ajax winger Antony than the 26-year-old Spain international who Madrid is willing to sell for €30 million.

Although Ajax has already rejected United’s €80 million offer for Antony, the Dutch club has informed United that they will accept offers of approximately €100 million for the 22-year-old Brazilian because of his desire to play for Old Trafford.

Asensio, 26, has been dissatisfied with his lack of playing time since joining Carlo Ancelotti‘s squad. With the 2022 World Cup fast approaching, the offensive midfielder is eager to get match sharpness. On Sunday, he played for only eight minutes in Real Madrid’s 4-1 LaLiga triumph over Celta Vigo.

If he were to make the move to Old Trafford, he would join Casemiro, a Madrid midfielder who just signed for United for €70 million, as a Los Blancos player who has left for United this summer.

Arsenal has also been connected with a bid for Asensio, so United may have to battle with them for the player’s signing. According to reports, Milik, age 28, has completed a loan move with a stated fee of €1m and an option to join permanently worth €7m, plus add-ons.

Over the past three seasons, the Polish international scored 38 goals in 93 league games for Napoli and 30 goals in 55 games for Marseille. With only a week left until the end of the summer transfer season, Premier League clubs have already spent more than they ever have before.

Deloitte reports that this summer’s spending by premier league clubs of £1.5 billion is a record, surpassing the £1.4 billion spent in 2017. It’s also more than the £1.4bn that teams spent collectively all of last season.

2017–18 set a new Premier League single-season record of £1.86bn in spending. Chris Wood, associate director in Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, stated that the unprecedented levels of expenditure observed in this summer’s transfer window

So far is a sign that the business models of Premier League teams are rebounding post-COVID. While this is promising, teams must prioritize fiscal responsibility if they are to thrive in the long run.
