Manchester United reportedly has their sights set on Matheus Cunha, a forward for Brazil and Atletico Madrid. United’s poor start to the Premier League has prompted the club to compile a list of potential striker additions, with the 23-year-old Cunha at the top of that list.
According to our sources, Cunha wants to join United in order to improve his chances of making Tite’s Brazil World Cup roster. The tournament will take place in November. United boss Erik ten Hag sees Cunha as a good fit because of his versatility. Cunha can play as a lone striker, in a pair of forwards, or out wide.
In spite of this, he still has four years left on his contract at Atleti after spending €30 million to transfer there from Hertha Berlin last year. Atletico may be willing to let him go for a price between €40m and €50m because they need to cut their pay bill and save money.
Cunha has been utilized primarily as a substitute during his debut season in LaLiga, despite having made 29 appearances, six goals, and four assists for the Wanda Metropolitano. He has seven caps for Brazil.

Diego Simeone has a plethora of forwarding options at his disposal for Monday’s 3-0 win against Getafe, including Alvaro Morata, Joao Felix, Antoine Griezmann, Angel Correa, and Cunha (who entered the game as a substitute in the 83rd minute).
Who Is Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha, 23, is a forward for the Brazilian national team. He was born in the country’s northeast. Since beginning his professional club career as a youth with Swiss side Sion, he has also played in Germany and for his current team in England.
After his debut season in the Swiss top flight, in which he scored 10 goals, he was transferred to RB Leipzig. After a nifty roulette turn and chip in a win over Bayer Leverkusen, he scored the Bundesliga’s goal of the month for April 2019.
The Mail reports that Cunha is willing to relocate. This is despite the fact that he only joined Atleti last year and had an injury-plagued debut at the Wanda Metropolitano.
star forward Ronaldo has also been linked with a move to the Spanish club, so it seems sensible that these rumors would surface. But the same reports suggest that a swap arrangement is unlikely.
Hertha reportedly has a sell-on clause of 10%, which might affect the final amount, according to reports made around the time Cunha moved from Atletico Madrid. United, under Ten Hag’s direction, has struggled to find the back of the net so far this season, and their need for firepower is obvious.
