Mecole Hardman Injury

Chris Jones and Mecole Hardman were two of the Kansas City Chiefs’ key players who were sidelined with injuries on Wednesday during practice. Multiple outlets have reported that Mecole Hardman needed to be taken off the field after sustaining an injury to his left leg during Wednesday’s Kansas City Chiefs practice.

According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, Hardman was brought to the white medical tent after he leaped for the ball in the red zone and landed awkwardly. After wide receiver Tyreek Hill left for the Miami Dolphins, it is predicted that Hardman’s role will increase in his fourth season as a professional.

Hardman helped the Chiefs’ offense in their run to the Super Bowl victory, which led to his selection to the Pro Bowl and a second-team All-Pro nod as a rookie. Hardman has 126 receptions, 1,791 yards, and 12 touchdowns in the last three years.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been fortunate with their health during the first half of the preseason, but they suffered some serious setbacks on Wednesday when several important players were forced to miss practice due to injury. Defensive end Chris Jones and wide receiver Mecole Hardman have joined the list of those who have been injured.

Despite being in the middle of another week of training camp, the Chiefs were back at St. Joseph on Wednesday, but Jones and Hardman had to depart early due to injuries. Furthermore, running back Jerick McKinnon missed time in practice due to a hamstring strain.

To better clarify the problems, the team provided injury updates on each player after they occurred. Because of pain in his groin, Hardman had to sit out the rest of the session. While the extent of the injury is unknown, NFL reporter Ian Rapoport says there is hope that he may be able to walk off the field on his own.

While the loss of either player for any period of time would be devastating to the Chiefs, they are both seasoned veterans who are well acquainted with the Chiefs’ defensive and offensive strategies, thus their participation in the remaining postseason games is not essential. The Chiefs’ first game of the season is scheduled for September 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, therefore all attention is on getting ready for that contest.
