The Dallas Cowboys don’t appear to be depending on running back Ezekiel Elliott’s availability as he recovers from a knee injury in advance of their matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 8. Teammate Tony Pollard would take up Elliott’s responsibilities if he were unable to play on Sunday, but if this tweet from linebacker Micah Parsons is any indicator, Pollard would have competition.

Micah Parsons shared a video of himself playing running back in high school, with a highlight seeing him take a swing pass 30 yards across the field to the end zone, even if the mood was intended to be humorous. Elliott responded, “You were the same size as you are now lol,” in response.
Given that Elliott, a former All-Pro, has been a model of durability since entering the NFL, the possibility that he won’t even suit up against the Bears may as well be a story in and of itself. Dave Kluge, per Elliott, of Footballguys, has only missed two games in his career that weren’t due to a suspension or a need for rest before a playoff game.
Regardless of who starts at running back on Sunday, the Cowboys have a 5-2 record heading into Week 8 in the fiercely contested NFC East. Despite their impressive record, the Cowboys are currently third in their division, trailing only the Philadelphia Eagles—the NFL’s lone remaining unbeaten squad—and the 6-1 New York Giants. Will Pollard and the Cowboys make a big play to clinch the victory?
