Second-round guillotine from #11-ranked strawweight Amanda Lemos knocked out Michelle Waterson-Gomez of UFC Long Island in the promotion’s co-main event on the Long Island shores. Lemos relinquished control of Waterson-Gomez despite the referee’s failure to tap on the shoulder. A standing arm triangle defeat was the final straw for Lemos before she received her own sub.
In the first round, there wasn’t much to report. As determined as Waterson-Gomez was to remain outside, Lemos could not supply the strength she needed, and Michelle herself was unable to connect with her own blows. As the second round got underway, Lemos began to close the gap. Lemos jumped on a guillotine to get the tap when Michelle Waterson-Gomez tried to attack with a single leg. Lemos held her ground admirably.

In the second round, Lemos’ punches connected more often because she was able to get into the pocket better. Then Lemos secured the guillotine as Waterson-Gomez went for a take-down. Waterson-Gomez had no choice but to give up when he got stuck. The ref didn’t notice because the tap was on the other side of Lemos’s body, but he nonetheless loosened the hold. There was no denying that Michelle had tapped out on purpose, and the match was finished.
