Halftime score: Florida State 7, LSU 3. If the Seminoles had kicked a field goal late in the second quarter, the score would be 10-3. The Seminoles were driving after recovering a muffed punt from LSU at their own 16-yard line. On 4th-and-2, after the Seminoles had advanced eight yards in three plays, head coach Mike Norvell decided to risk it.

In the end zone, quarterback Jordan Travis lofted a precise pass to wide receiver Mycah Pittman on a fade route, but the ball sailed between Pittman’s hands. Florida State was unable to capitalize on a prime scoring opportunity despite having a superior field position.

Norvell’s choice, given the circumstances, was met with much perplexity. However, other people pointed out that Travis’s throw was catchable. At halftime, Florida State is up 7-3 against LSU, but that lead might be 10-3 if the Seminoles had kicked a field goal late in the second quarter.

FSU got the ball at the LSU 16-yard line after the Tigers botched a punt and FSU recovered. After gaining eight yards in three plays, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell decided to risk a field goal attempt on 4th-and-2.

Mycah Pittman, who was running a fade route, was unable to catch a pass from quarterback Jordan Travis that was thrown accurately but fell incomplete in the end zone. Instead of scoring from their advantageous field position, Florida State scored nothing.

Some people thought Norvell’s choice to be unusual given the circumstances. While this is true, some have noted that Travis’s throw was actually catchable.

We may be talking about how Norvell took a risk and it paid off in the future if Pittman makes the play.

Still, he has reason to be pleased with the Seminoles’ performance in the first half in New Orleans. Tonight’s victory versus LSU would improve FSU’s record to 2-0.

We may be talking about how Norvell took a risk and it paid off in the future if Pittman makes the play. Memphis would go on to win their next four games of the season, including a 52-31 victory over Houston in the season’s final week, tying them for first place in the West along with Houston and Tulane.

After a series of tiebreakers, Memphis was selected to represent the West in this year’s American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game, where they will once again meet UCF in Orlando. The Tigers led 38-21 at halftime, but they scored just three points in the second half to lose by a final score of 56-41. Memphis participated in the 2018 Birmingham Bowl, where they fell to Wake Forest, 37-34, and finished their season with an 8-6 record.

The 2019 season was one of the best in program history, as the Tigers finished the regular season 11-1 and secured a spot in the 2019 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game on December 7.

This was the team’s third consecutive championship appearance, and they faced Cincinnati, whom they had defeated 34-24 the week before to secure home-field advantage for the championship game.

Brady White of Memphis threw a touchdown pass to Antonio Gibson of Memphis with 1:14 left in the fourth quarter, capping off a back-and-forth fight between the two teams that resulted in a 29-24 victory for Memphis against the Bearcats and a conference championship.

They were the best team in the final CFP rankings, so they got a spot in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Day to play Penn State. Norvell left Memphis for Florida State the next day to take over as head coach there.
