Arron Mosby

On Wednesday, the Panthers promoted linebacker Arron Mosby from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Mosby, an undrafted rookie linebacker from Fresno State, dazzled coaches with his flexibility in the preseason. He’s versatile enough to play both rush end and stand-up linebacker. He’s useful on special teams as well, getting 16 total plays against the Giants last week.

Standardly elevated from the practice squad the previous two weeks, he did not see action against the Browns.

After injuring defensive tackle Bravvion Roy and returning man Andre Roberts, the Panthers had a pair of roster openings. As a result, the Panthers re-signed defensive tackle Frank Herron, who had been with the team the previous two offseasons, to the practice squad.

The Carolina Panthers were two players shy of a 53-man roster coming into Wednesday after wide receiver Andre Roberts and defensive end Bravvion Roy were placed on injured reserve over the past week. As for the gap, it has been halved.

The organization announced earlier today that linebacker Arron Mosby has been added to the active roster. The Panthers’ two preseason games saw the 23-year-old rookie promoted off the practice squad.

At first, Mosby joined the Panthers organization in the spring as an undrafted free agent. Between 2017 and 2021, he played for Fresno State in college and recorded 156 tackles, 6.0 sacks, two interceptions, and nine forced fumbles in five seasons.

The newcomer, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 245 pounds, will be playing with veterans Shaq Thompson and Frankie Luvu as well as rookies Damien Wilson, Cory Littleton, and Brandon Smith. You can count on Mosby to spend the vast majority of his time (if not all of it) on special teams, as he did in Week 2 against the New York Giants when he played in 16 of the game’s snaps.
