Najee Harris Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris was taken out of training camp Monday after injuring his left foot during a drill session today in the city of Pittsburgh. After an 11-on-11 snap, he jumped over to one side and did not return. When Harris finally made his way out of the practice area, he did it barefoot.

At St. Vincent College, thousands of fans and curious members of the media gathered to see the team practice. As Harris walked to the golf cart, he kept his left foot raised.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin later remarked, “Somebody stepped on his foot.”. This isn’t a big deal, but it isn’t.” The Steelers have reason to believe this is the case. Their postseason aspirations are already precarious in the AFC North, which is stacked to the gills.

It’s Najee Harris, not Ben Roethlisberger, that gives the Pittsburgh Steelers their greatest shot at making the playoffs. As of 2021, Harris rushed the ball 307 times for 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns, and he has caught 74 balls for 467 yards and three additional touchdowns. Harris’ output in Year 2 was expected to start at that level.

The Steelers’ quarterback competition is a nice subplot in training camp, but none of the three quarterbacks in a power-running padded practice on Monday looked like franchise quarterbacks.

All of Trubisky’s time with Pittsburgh’s first team this training camp has come as the former Bear’s top-five pick.

Although he didn’t commit any major errors, he also didn’t take any significant risks. Matt Canada is known for calling plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This year, only Jared Goff (6.4) ranked lower than Ben Roethlisberger (6.7) in terms of the intended air-yard average.

Given how battered Big Ben’s arms appeared at the end of his career, that was understandable. There are only a handful of NFL-caliber quarterbacks under the age of 30 with NFL-caliber arm strength. Despite this, the Steelers’ passing game has so far been a check-down fest. Naturally, this can be explained by factors other than a team’s blind reliance on their quarterbacks.

Diontae Johnson (contract dispute hold-in) and Pat Freiermut (hamstring) all missed team activities on Monday because of injuries. But it’s not like the Steelers were completely defenseless. For the past few weeks, training camp has been buzzing with the news that rookie George Pickens will be one of the most impactful players in his draft class.

This is just another opportunity to show off my route-running skills to all the coaches,” said Pickens, the 52nd overall pick from Georgia in April. Due to the fact that I’m well-known for being both large and fast. That was the kind of guy I was drawn to. That’s what Randy Moss was, and that’s what you are. And that’s what I was trying to show.”

Pickens would have Trubisky as his quarterback if the season began today. There isn’t a lot of competition at quarterback right now. In fact, it’s unclear if Rudolph will even make the team at this point.

The Pittsburgh Steelers would prefer not to have two veteran quarterbacks on the roster, and Pickett is of course a first-round draft pick. But after four days, he’s been a little lackluster (although Monday was better than the first three). The Steelers must be confident enough in him during the preseason that he could replace Trubisky if he were to be injured.
