QB Lamar Jackson of The Ravens Discusses the Possibility of Trading Wide Receiver Marquise Brown!

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

The Arizona Cardinals acquired the No. 23 overall pick from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for wide receiver Marquise Brown and a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draught, shocking the NFL world. Following the deal for No. 23, Baltimore selected Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum with their second first-round pick in exchange for No. 25 and a fourth-round pick.

It came up during Lamar Jackson’s post-minicamp press conference when he was asked about Baltimore’s decision to trade for Malcolm Brown. He added that John Harbaugh called him to tell him that the team was considering trading Brown and that he didn’t believe it. Jackson admitted that he thought “What the…” once the deal was completed, but he went on to explain how everything worked out in the end.

“Coach [Harbaugh] actually called me. After a workout, I was simply sitting there and listening to him. But he kept saying things like, “We’re thinking about trading him,” and so on, but I wasn’t convinced.

As soon as it happened, I was flabbergasted and said, “What the…” But don’t worry, everything will be OK. As a business, it’s inevitable. On the subject of the Brown deal, Jackson was questioned about his draft-night tweet and replied that it was.

“Yes. Because that’s my son, I was a little hurt. All in all, though, it’s fine. Obviously, this is part of the job.” When the transaction was made public, Brown was already in Arizona, according to the fifth-year quarterback. It’s true I was taken aback. “Damn,” I say to myself. Nevertheless, as I already stated (laughing), it is an inherent part of the job.”

As players of the Baltimore Ravens, Jackson and Brown have a close friendship that extends beyond the field. If Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay, James Proche II, and Tylan Wallace don’t step up, Baltimore will have to rely on other wide receivers, such as Rashod Bateman. Mark Andrews, the team’s star tight end, is just one of a number of players who can catch the ball from the backfield.
