Scottie Lewis Injury

New Orleans Hornets guard Scottie Lewis has undergone surgery to mend a fractured lower left leg. Lewis’s return to the court is still unscheduled, but the team expects him to fully recuperate in the coming days.

A two-way player with the Hornets in his debut season, Lewis, 22, was selected 56th overall in the 2021 draught out of the University of Florida. Averaging 12.1 points per game in 32 NBAGL regular-season games, he participated in just two NBA games but was an integral part of Charlotte’s G League affiliate the Greensboro Swarm’s success this year (30.5 MPG).

Last Monday, Lewis became an unrestricted free agent since the Hornets did not extend his two-year contract. On the other hand, he had been a member of Charlotte’s Summer League roster, which was injured on Thursday in Las Vegas.

Lewis’ injury sounds like it will take months to heal rather than weeks, so don’t hold your breath for him to be back on an NBA roster this fall, even though the Hornets didn’t say as much in their announcement.
