The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the strong Phoenix Suns team on Monday night, earning a much-needed victory. But as of late, it has been revealed that star center Joel Embiid has received a fine for an unsportsmanlike foul he committed against Damion Lee.
During the third period of Monday’s match, Embiid was called for a foul on Lee. After the NBA reviewed the incident, the foul was elevated to a Flagrant 1. The incident in question can be found below (h/t NBA Official on Twitter):

The replay plainly shows that Embiid stretched his right foot to trip Lee. This was a risky play that, in more dire circumstances, might have resulted in some form of injury. It’s not surprising, after watching that film, that Lee and the Suns quickly requested a review after the play. The Sixers star receiving a Flagrant 1 for this infraction also doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

Since Embiid won’t be banned for his behavior, he will be available for the Sixers’ upcoming contest. This takes the form of a Thursday game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Prior to the Sun’s victory, Joel Embiid missed three straight games due to a non-COVID sickness. Following James Harden’s injury, the Sixers desperately needed him to be reasonably fine, and he appears to be doing just that.
The former league MVP has a sprained right foot tendon and will be out for about a month. With Harden watching from the sidelines, Embiid will have to bear the weight for Philadelphia.
