Tarik Cohen Injury

A ruptured Achilles tendon was discovered in the former Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Cohen has not played since September 2020 after suffering an ACL, MCL, and tibial plateau fracture while working out on Instagram Live.

After being drafted by the Bears as a fourth-round pick in 2017 out of North Carolina A&T, Cohen made the Pro Bowl and was named to the All-Pro team in his second season.

He had 444 rushing yards, 725 receiving yards, eight touchdowns, and a league-best 411 punt return yards in the 2018 season. Before the injury concerns of 2020 began, he took a step back in terms of production in 2019.

Just 26 years old, Cohen has a long list of accomplishments to his name. In spite of the fact that even if he misses another season, his prime-producing years are still ahead of him, this is a sad setback for a free agent returning to the league after a string of serious ailments.

Additionally, it follows on the heels of an emotional piece he penned for The Players’ Tribune titled “Letter to My Younger Self,” in which he discussed the difficulties he encountered in his young professional life.

It explores the loss of several brothers, as well as the author’s personal challenges and reactions to these events. His injury history is further examined, which revealed more significant damage than the first diagnosis of an ACL tear because of the torn MCL and fractured tibia plateau.

There will be no one outside of your small group who knows how badly you’ve been hurt. “Everyone will assume it’s a typical ACL tear. Odell and a slew of others have bounced back from that in less than a year, just like you. What this means is that a lot of people will start questioning you on a wide range of topics.”

In March, the Bears waived him because of an injury designation.

A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday that former Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen ruptured his Achilles tendon during a training session that was being live-streamed on his Instagram account.

During Tuesday’s training, the unlucky athlete, who had been released by the Bears in March due to previous ailments, grasped the back of his leg after falling to the ground. Instagram Live captured Cohen’s tumble when he backpedaled and hit the ground.

Despite playing three complete seasons in Chicago, Cohen only managed to play three games in 2021 due to knee ligament damage. The Bears cut him after he missed the rest of the season.

This year, Cohen, a running back and kick returner selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draught, had a promising first year. Punt returner, who led the NFL with 33 run-backs for 411 yards in 2018, was named to the All-Pro team in 2018.

Sports Illustrated’s Alex Marvez reported that he had been in contact with the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos before the 2017 NFL Draft, as well as working out for the Green Bay Packers.

He drew comparisons to Darren Sproles and was expected to be picked in the sixth round of the 2018 draught because of his size and skill set.

The NFL Scouting Combine invited 330 aspirants to participate in 2017. Despite his little stature, he ran the third quickest 40-yard (37 m) sprint time among the running backs with a time of 4.42 seconds.

To begin the season, Cohen was designated as a reserve/physically unable to perform player. The ACL injury he suffered the previous season sidelined him for the whole 2021 season.

On March 16, 2022, the Bears cut ties with Cohen.

Cohen tore his Achilles tendon while training on May 17 and was live-streaming the event on his Instagram account at the time.
