Taty Castellano's

The future of Valentin Castellanos at New York City FC appears bleak. When NYCFC beat Inter Miami 1-0 on Saturday, it seemed like the last time the club’s fans could show their support for their star striker.

In a 2-0 victory over Inter Miami at Yankee Stadium, Castellanos started for Nick Cushing’s team and assisted on one goal, helping NYCFC win their fourth straight game and stay within striking distance of Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union. A move to Girona, another City Football Group team, has been suggested for the Argentine in recent weeks.

NYCFC and Girona have not signed a transfer agreement, but Castellanos’ 62-minute appearance on Saturday was his final one for the defending MLS Cup champions. When substituted in the second half, Castellanos was praised by the home crowd. After the game was over, he took one more circuit around the stadium to celebrate the victory.

The MLS Cup victory and the Golden Boot award in 2021 will be the highlights of Castellanos’ career with NYCFC, but Cushing believes he will be remembered for more than just his numbers.

Taty Castellanos Transfer

“I believe his enthusiasm and his ambition and his want to work for the club,” Cushing said. “I think he’s a good fit.” People fall for him because he plays with his heart and his passion, and I think his hunger and want to be in the box and to be a murderer in the box is there.” He’s also a New Yorker. Taty Castellanos is Taty Castellanos, and he is in New York, no matter where he is or what time of day it is.

A big reason for his positive response, according to Cushing, is his contributions to the squad in recent seasons as well as in the previous one. His popularity is undeniable.” As a result, if you bench him during a game, the fans will show their admiration for him.

Taty deserves all the praise for the way he plays the game, whether he leaves the pitch or not. Our supporters gave him a standing ovation when he got off the field, and if this was his last game, I’m incredibly happy of them because he’ll remember it.”

In Saturday’s triumph, Castellanos put up fellow Argentine forward Maxi Moralez for his first goal of the season. As he watched Heber take his spot in NYCFC’s attacking third and score an insurance goal, the 23-year-old realized he had done nothing wrong.

The New York City Football Club’s 41 goals scored this season rank third in the MLS and first in the Eastern Conference. The loss of Castellanos would leave a gaping void in the attack, but the contribution of Heber in Saturday’s triumph and the breakout season of Tales Magno in 2022 would leave NYCFC well-positioned to be a favorite for the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup.

Cushing expects other players to step up in the next two-and-a-half months of the regular season to replace Castellanos at the top of NYCFC’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Cushing stated, “I think you can see the quality in our squad.” During Taty’s suspension and with an injury, we put Heber in and he scored two goals in Cincinnati, he scored in Dallas, and he scored again tonight. In other words, Heber is a merciless No. 9 who has proven how hard he has worked and how clinical he is in the box since suffering a knee injury.

As for Tales Magno, Cushing said, “I think he’d like to go there, too. Let me put it this way: Tales is an excellent player and when you ask whether or not we are going to bring someone in for the No. 9, I answer, “Yes.” We’re always looking for new employees. If we do bring in a player, we want to make sure that it’s for the benefit of the squad,” he said.
