Tim Patrick, a wide receiver with the Denver Broncos, had an MRI on his right knee on Tuesday, and the results showed that he had ruptured his ACL, terminating his season. On Tuesday, during team exercises, Patrick caught a pass in front of cornerback Essang Bassey, and as he turned to sprint upfield, his leg buckled and he went to the ground, clutching his knee.
As Patrick was being checked out by the trainers, several of his teammates rushed to be by his side. Among them were wide receiver Courtland Sutton and quarterback Russell Wilson.
Patrick, who was expected to be one of the top three wide receivers and led the team in touchdown receptions last season, was assisted onto a cart and taken to the locker room.
A guy like Tim. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett remarked, “it tears your heart” before test results revealed the full degree of the injury. What just happened was the worst aspect of this game by far.”
Hackett chimed in, saying, “Tim is a man that is much recognized across this squad, across this league.”
The practice was halted by the Broncos to allow Patrick to be helped off the field. Safety In his 13th year in the NFL, Kareem Jackson said, “the longest I’ve seen practice kind of held [up] because of Patrick.”

Last year, Patrick had 53 receptions, good for third on the team, and he led the club with five touchdown catches. The Broncos claimed him off waivers in 2017, and he went from being a special team stalwart to one of the team’s major receivers in the offense throughout the course of his stint with the organization.
In November of 2016, he inked a $30 million contract for three years. Sutton stated, “It aches,” following Tuesday’s practice. It’s inspiring to witness a person who puts in so much effort over the summer, and his level of preparation is second to none.
The Broncos will have lost one of their best receivers for the third straight season due to injury. Similar to KJ Hamler, who tore his ACL and hip in Week 3 of the 2018 season, Sutton tore his ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season.
After Patrick was injured on Tuesday, the coaching staff put special emphasis on rookies Montrell Washington and Kendall Hinton.
Late Tuesday afternoon, running back Damarea Crockett announced on Twitter that he, too, had torn his ACL during practice. Crockett, who saw action in 12 games for the team last year, has been working as the No. 4 back in camp, behind starters Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon III, and Mike Boone.
