Karim Benzema suffered an injury during his first complete training session with the team on Saturday, and he is no longer on France’s FIFA World Cup roster. He ends up on the wrong side of football history as a result of his actions.

Benzema reportedly missed the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 44 years as the reigning Ballon d’Or winner. Allan Simonsen was the last to experience it; he missed the competition in 1978 as a result of Denmark’s failure to earn a spot.

After an outstanding performance for the club and nation in 2022, Benzema was awarded the Ballon d’Or. He scored 44 goals for Real Madrid during the 2021–2022 season as they won three championships, including the Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League, and La Liga. The Frenchman also played a significant role in France winning the UEFA Nations League.

Unfortunately, when Benzema returned to France after suffering a muscular ailment, he injured his non-contact thigh. Les Bleus and the 34-year-old scorer decided it would be best for him to sit out following discussions with the squad and its medical personnel.

In a statement he later released, Benzema expressed his opinion that it would be ideal for the squad to replace him with a player who can make an immediate impact.

“I’ve never given up in my life, but tonight I have to consider the team like I usually do, therefore the logic tells me to give up my position to someone who can assist our team win the world cup. Thank you for your encouraging messages, Benzema said on Instagram.

The fact that Benzema won’t be able to represent France at the FIFA World Cup is undoubtedly unfortunate. After all, his presence placed a lot of pressure on the team. But perhaps he’ll be able to get over his current illnesses shortly.
