Tom Aspinall Injury

An injury to one of the participants led to the postponement of another exciting UFC main event this week. After last week’s featherweight match between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega, this one was harder to bear because it didn’t even get a chance to get started.

When heavyweight Tom Aspinall kicked Curtis Blaydes and then stepped aside to avoid a strike, his right knee was injured. Something gave in Aspinall’s knee when he stepped backward, and the teen screamed in agony. In the opening round, referee Herb Dean called time after 15 seconds.

At the end of the first round, Ortega dislocated his shoulder when he tried to fight an arm bar. When it was over, it was a competitive bout that lasted for 4:11:2.

As quickly as it started, it was finished. They went on the offensive right away. Aspinall struck Blaydes’ left thigh with a right-footed kick. Aspinall backed away from a strike from Blaydes.

As soon as he grabbed his knee, the fight was finished. During the broadcast of the fight for ESPN, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping inquired about the possible cause of the injury. Bisping was informed by the doctor that they suspected a medial collateral ligament injury. Blaydes’s TKO win is officially recorded in the record books.

Tom Aspinall Injury

On October 11, 2020, Aspinall was scheduled to face Sergey Spivak in his second UFC appearance. Alan Baudot, a newbie to the promotion, was brought in to replace Spivak when he pulled out of the bout for unknown reasons. First-round TKO by Aspinall secured the victory.

Andrei Arlovski was Aspinall’s next opponent, and the fight took place on February 20, 2021, at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis. In the second round, he was stopped by a submission. As a result, he was voted “Performance of the Night.”

On September 4, 2021, Aspinall was scheduled to meet Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Fight Night 191. However, in late August, Pavlovich was withdrawn from the card owing to claimed visa concerns, and Sergey Spivak was replaced. Round one ended with a technical knockout for Aspinall. Aspinall’s third Performance of the Night bonus award came with the victory.

Shamil Abdurakhimov was slated to face Aspinall at UFC Fight Night 204 on March 19, 2022. On the other hand, it was revealed on January 21st, 2022, that Aspinall would instead be facing off against Alexander Volkov. In the first round, Aspinall submitted the opponent with a straight armbar submission. He got the Performance of the Night award after this victory.

UFC Fight Night 208 will take place on July 23, 2022, and Aspinall will take on Curtis Blaydes in that event. In the first round, he was knocked out by a technical knockout because he had a knee injury.
