Tommy Tanks Transfer
Tommy “Tanks” White is headed to a new school less than a month after breaking the NCAA freshman home run record.
According to D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, the former NC State Tigers’ first baseman is moving to the LSU Tigers.
To go along with a.362/.425/.757 line, White smashed 27 home runs for the Wolfpack in the year 2022. In the era of BBCOR bats, Ivan Melendez of Texas broke Kris Bryant’s Division I home run record of 31. (since 20211). Melendez, on the other hand, logged 12 more appearances than White in his career.

Prior to entering the MLB Draft, White has two years of eligibility remaining. A third high-profile transfer has been signed by LSU, according to Rogers, in the form of pitcher Christian Little. For Vanderbilt, the right-hander threw 38 1/3 innings in 2022 with a 3.72 earned run average. In Rogers’ estimation, Little has a “first-round prospect.”
So, for the LSU baseball team, Friday was a huge day. Tigers coach Jay Johnson led the team to a 40-22 record in his first season, with the season culminating in the NCAA Regionals. In addition, LSU features outfielder Dylan Crews (1.1153 OPS in 2022), who is predicted to be a top choice in the 2023 MLB Draft, as well.
