Mykhaylo Mudryk, a forward for Shakhtar Donetsk, has been linked to a transfer to Arsenal, who are looking to build on their successful transfer window.
The 21-year-old would become the Gunners’ sixth signing of the current transfer window, joining the likes of Mikel Arteta and Edu, who have been particularly active in the market.
Although Mudryk may not be a household name just yet, the youngster’s breakout season with Shakhtar last year makes him a very intriguing possibility. With a possible move to the Emirates Stadium in the works, Mirror Sport takes a detailed look at the promising young winger.
Who Is Mykhaylo Mudryk?
Mudryk, a winger born in the Ukrainian city of Krasnohrad, is 21 years old. When he was nine years old, he started his football training with Metalist Kharkiv. Later, he transferred to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
After only two seasons, he left in 2016 to join his current team, Shakhtar. After two years in the junior system, he was given his first taste of professional football with loan stints with Arsenal Kyiv and Desna Chernihiv.
He has made 26 appearances for Shakhtar since his breakthrough, contributing twice as many assists as goals. The winger, who has been dubbed the “Ukrainian Messi,” has earned five international appearances for his country.

It could be difficult for the Gunners to get Mudryk, as a lot of clubs are interested in signing him. Brentford, one of their Premier League opponents, was heavily connected with a move in January but could not close the deal.
Meanwhile, French club OGC Nice has been linked to the wideout as well.
With the Ukrainian Premier League scheduled to resume next week after being postponed last season due to Russia’s invasion of the country, Mudryk, who is still under contract with Shakhtar until 2026, might make his season debut on Tuesday against Metalist 1925.
What Has Been Said?
The winger has previously stated his intention to move to the Premier League as soon as possible. Before, he had this to say about Brentford’s possible interest in him: “The offers from Brentford are really appreciated.
“It would be amazing to make it to the Premier League at the age of 20, but the club president has the final say. “If this offer had arrived a year or 18 months ago, I wouldn’t have thought twice about asking the club to release me.
“It’s unbelievable that a 20-year-old can make it to the Premier League. But since Srna and De Zerbi [Shakhtar’s coaches] took over, the team has improved greatly. Help is on the way for me.
“The future of my career is intertwined with Shakhtar, where I am currently under contract for an extended period of time. I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure the team’s success in any and all upcoming contests.”
