Young Bucks

The Young Bucks are a major part of AEW, but a recent report claims that they have been in contact with WWE talent regarding a possible move.

This announcement arrives in the midst of a moment of immense upheaval in AEW, with chaos breaking out backstage following All Out as a direct result of CM Punk’s incendiary comments during the post-show press conference.

Punk’s comments reportedly sparked a confrontation backstage, with Punk allegedly throwing a punch at Matt Jackson and Punk’s friend and AEW producer Ace Steel reportedly throwing a chair that struck Nick Jackson in the head or eye.

The outcome is that several stars, including The Young Bucks, have been suspended by the promotion, and The Bucks and Kenny Omega have lost the AEW Trios Championship they won at All Out.

When their contracts with AEW expire, The Young Bucks, who are also Executive Vice Presidents, have reportedly inquired through unknown talent about a possible transition to WWE, as reported by Ryan Frederick of The Wrestling Observer on the F4W Board. In contrast, Frederick stresses the importance of all talented people working toward the same goals:

They didn’t enter into any new contracts. Choices were made for them. A talent was contacted to indicate interest in discussing a possible return when current contracts expired. Of course, you want to get the greatest price possible, and so will your counterpart. Everyone who doesn’t is either stupid or potentially losing money.

They made contact with a potential participant to gauge interest in participating. Although I am unable to confirm that they had any direct contact with WWE personnel if they had, that would constitute tampering, and this development coincided with the sending of legal papers concerning tampering.

They may or may not have directly contacted WWE personnel about joining the company, but they certainly could have (just as WWE personnel are free to send feelers via AEW personnel, which has been done on several occasions).

“Since their contracts are expiring at the end of 2024, it’s not like they wouldn’t have done it anyway; after all, you want to increase your bargaining power in negotiations for a new contract by provoking a bidding war among the corporations. It may not be indicative of their impending departure. It’s something everyone ought to do.
