How to Duet on Tiktok

Before it was called TikTok, there was another app with a similar name. Musical.ly, the most downloaded app for lip syncing, was released in 2014. In 2018, Chinese technology firm ByteDance paid close to $1 billion to acquire the site, which features users mouthing the words to a variety of hit songs. Apparently, a year later, all Musical.ly accounts were merged into TikTok.

Not only is lip-syncing popular on the new app, but so are challenges, skits, and memes. The Duet posting option is just one of many in the app. On this page, users can “Duet,” or create a video in tandem with another user’s post.
