The Denver Broncos have taken a lot of heat for their offense’s subpar performance this season. Their quarterback Russell Wilson has taken the brunt of the criticism. They might not be able to deploy that defence this week when against the New York Jets.
Wilson’s hamstring ailment kept him from participating in practise on Thursday. He has apparently also been struggling for a few weeks with a shoulder lat strain. According to reports, Wednesday’s walkthrough reps were mostly completed by backup quarterback Brett Rypien.
Per sources, Brett Rypien took most of walkthrough reps yesterday. Doesn t mean Russell Wilson (hamstring) won t start Sunday vs Jets. Would mean they re getting Rypien ready in case Wilson can t go. Rypien has one NFL start vs. Jets, a win, in 2020. #9sports

In his NFL career, Rypien has only made one start. In fact, it was for the Jets, this week’s opposition, back in 2020. He is Mark Rypien’s nephew, the quarterback for the Super Bowl-winning Washington Redskins.
At practise on Thursday, Russell Wilson was seen throwing to the side. The coaches are just giving Rypien practise time in case he still gets the start. In either case, it will be challenging for the Broncos offence to get going this week.
One of the best front sevens in the league is the Jets’. The battle is always won by them at the line of scrimmage. The Jets pressured Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers numerous times and sacked him four times last week.
Wilson seemed to be making progress Monday night. Against the Los Angeles Chargers, he started off 10-for-10 for more than 100 yards and a touchdown. He completed 5-of-18 passes for 16 yards the rest of the way. That includes the two possessions in overtime. This Broncos squad has a number of problems, but the defence is not one of them. By limiting opponents to 16.5 points a game, they have done their duty. Fourth in the NFL, that.
Denver may get ugly if Wilson and his $2 billion contract are unable to quickly improve the offence.
One obvious indication that Broncos QB Russell Wilson’s status against the Jets is uncertain first appeared on ClutchPoints.
