The 2022 NFL season has been difficult for Chicago Bears’ second-year quarterback Justin Fields. However, Fields acknowledged in a recent interview with Colleen Kanin the Chicago Tribune that there is still work to be done as he gets ready for Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots.
Fields asserted, “I can improve at everything with relation to quarterback play.
The requirement for poise when blocking from the Bears offensive line, a unit tied for first in sacks allowed (23) with the Washington Commanders, is one area mentioned in the article. Nervousness can make or ruin a play when a defensive pass rush gets through to a quarterback, especially an inexperienced one.
“… if they sense I’m getting impatient and perhaps leaving the pocket too soon… ” simply remind me to reset, like, after every play,” Fields said. “There will be occasions when I do have time, and I can sit in there [in the pocket],” the speaker said.
Fields finally started 10 games for the Bears as a rookie after trailing current New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton for most of the 2021 season. Sadly, the former Ohio State star had a forgettable first season, throwing for 1,870 yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions. Fields’ sophomore effort hasn’t quite gone as he had hoped because of his ongoing difficulties. Fields has 869 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions going into Week 7.
In order to improve upon their 2-4 record and get ready for their Monday Night Football matchup against the Patriots in Week 7, Justin Fields and the Bears will need to be honest with themselves and have a furious attitude about their discontent with their lack of team success.
Prior to the Monday Night Football matchup against the Patriots, Bears quarterback Justin Fields is candid about his team’s dismal performance.
