The Clemson Tigers play the Syracuse Orange. See our college football odds series for our forecast and choice for Syracuse vs. Clemson.
The Clemson Tigers have resumed play. With victories over North Carolina State, Wake Forest, and Florida State, two of which were on the road, they have now passed their three biggest tests of the season. Clemson has navigated minefields and dealt with tough, stressful situations with the poise and composure that one would often expect from the Tigers. After losing each of his two veteran coordinators in the offseason, Dabo Swinney has done a fantastic job managing this season. Brent Venables, Dabo’s defensive coordinator, left for Oklahoma, while Tony Elliott, his offensive coordinator, left for Virginia. Everyone was curious about how Dabo would do, and the fact that quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei had a difficult year in 2021 exacerbated matters further. Nobody anticipated his reaction following a very challenging season. The results are in: Clemson is the real deal. For any circumstance, the Tigers had the tools and solutions they required. A repaired Clemson programme looks like this. Everything is on track for Clemson to finish the regular season undefeated and make another trip to the College Football Playoff, where they had previously appeared in each of the six seasons from 2015 to 2020.
Syracuse, which has astonished everyone in the ACC and the greater college football world by entering Week 8 without a loss, is standing in the way of Clemson’s undefeated season. Coach Dino Babers was in hot water going into this season. He has unexpectedly propelled Syracuse to joint first place with Clemson in the ACC Atlantic Division. The Orange boast victories over Purdue and North Carolina State, proving that they haven’t gained weight by playing inferior ACC teams or cupcakes. They do have a few crumbs of success, but they also have some impressive accomplishments. Under Babers, Syracuse won 10 games in 2018. The Orange are once again on pace to win 10 games four years later. They should be able to avoid cratering in November if they just avoid doing so. Syracuse defends aggressively and forcefully. The offence isn’t particularly strong, but it hasn’t been required to be. The Orange don’t lose to themselves, and they make big plays against their rivals. It will be interesting to see whether they can make mistakes by Clemson.

Nobody should think that the game is not competitive.
