In an effort to save the digital world, forge new relationships and prepare the route to victory! Continue reading to find out more about Digimon World: Next Order’s plot, gameplay, and release date.

Digimon World: Next Order release date: February 22, 2023

On February 22, 2023, Digimon World: Next Order will be accessible to everyone in the world on PC and Nintendo Switch. Prior to its international release for the PlayStation 4 in February 2017, the game was initially made available only in Japan for the PlayStation Vita in March 2016.

    Playing Digimon World: Next Order

In the open-world role-playing game Digimon World: Next Order, players assume control of the main character from a third-person viewpoint. The player must select two starting friends from a group of ten at the beginning of the game. The user’s selected Digimon will then follow them, growing and changing as they interact with the player and participate in combat. The player’s choices greatly influence the over 200 different partners that the selected Digimon can Digivolve into. The plot will then continue as players move through various locales, accomplish tasks, and engage with other characters.

When players come across an enemy in the game, battles happen in real time. Players can pause combat to give orders and use equipment, but the companion Digimon behave on their own thanks to AI. For each battle, players can choose to flip between the Digimon to give particular orders or to temporarily merge the two.

Story from Digimon World: Next Order

The protagonist of the game is either Takuto (a male) or Shiki (female). Whoever you select, the backstory is the same. The protagonist is a high school student who grew up loving Digimon and even finished second in a national competition. They are, however, coming to an end with Digimon as they fret about adolescence and consider the future. The hero discovers that Machinedramon has gravely devastated the city of Floatia after one day when they are suddenly taken into the Digital World. They then meet up with WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, their two Digimon partners. To destroy Machinedramon and save the Digital World, the three must cooperate.
