After suffering their second straight defeat of the new campaign on Friday night, the Miami Heat’s difficult start to the new campaign got even worse. This time, the Boston Celtics’ explosive pair of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who scored a combined 57 points to lead their team to a 111-104 victory on Miami’s home court, had no answer for the Heat.
Bam Adebayo, the Heat’s big man, put on a good show for himself in this contest. But the 25-year-old had an open reaction when he was called for a technical penalty at one stage in the game. Adebayo was upset that he had caused himself to incur a $2,500 fee for the tech. (Thanks to ESPN NBA reporter Tim Bontemps)
I could ve bought my chef s kid an iPad or something, Adebayo said with a laugh.
Adebayo was quite effective in their game against the Celtics, making eight of his 11 field goal attempts. The All-Star centre had a final stat line of 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. He did, however, make five turnovers, bringing his season total for Miami’s first two games to 10.
Adebayo stated that the Heat “need to be better linked defensively” following the defeat. Bam’s thoughts were echoed by Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro, who essentially allowed Tatum and Brown dominate them the entire night.
The Miami Heat will have to fight back when they play the Toronto Raptors on Saturday after falling behind 2-0. Adebayo and company must now compete against yet another Eastern Conference contender on the second night of a back-to-back match, so it will be a quick turnaround for them.
