Leon Edwards, the UFC welterweight champion, expects Anderson Silva, his “favourite fighter,” to defeat Jake Paul for the first time in boxing.
On October 29 in Phoenix, Arizona, the 47-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer squares off against the legendary Brazilian MMA fighter.
After leaving the UFC in 2020, Silva entered the fight having defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz in consecutive boxing matches.
Since joining the paid ranks, Paul has won five straight matches inside the squared circle.
And the 25-year-old has established a reputation for mercilessly dispatching MMA legends after knocking out Ben Askren in April 2021.
Later that year, he defeated former UFC champion Tyron Woodley by split decision before knocking him out in their rematch.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Edwards said he will be closely monitoring the next fight, expecting Silva to prevail.
“Anderson was my favourite boxer of all time,” the 31-year-old remarked. I wish he would go out there and finish the job.
