Beginning 2022–23 with victories over the Philadelphia 76ers and most recently, the Miami Heat on Friday night, the Boston Celtics are off to the best possible start.
The star combo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are stealing the show, despite the rotation as a whole playing well. They have established an outstanding franchise record after putting on yet another ridiculous performance, breaking a mark set by Larry Bird and Robert Parish of the Boston Celtics in the years 1984 to 1995.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the second duo Celtics history to score 25 points in each of their team’s first 2 games of a season.

Tatum played well against Miami, scoring 29, while Brown had 28. They both scored 35 points against Philadelphia on opening night. How about “electric”? Who the best combo in the Association is will be obvious if the two young people keep doing this.
Tatum and Brown seem to be out to redeem themselves after the Celtics’ earlier this year march to the NBA Finals, where they narrowly missed achieving their ultimate objective. The fact that the pair is performing at the highest level against two very good defensive teams is arguably the most astounding aspect.
There weren’t many contributions from the rest of the team on Friday, either. Grant Williams was the next closest scorer, scoring just 10 points. It goes without saying that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s bravery was required.
But that is what celebrities do. When others are having trouble, they carry their teams. The Orlando Magic are the next opponent on the schedule, so Tatum and Brown may very likely put on another outstanding performance as the Celtics try to go to 3-0.
