Robert Kraft allegedly received a crude warning from Jerry Jones earlier in the week, and the Dallas Cowboys owner has all but confirmed it.
The NFL owners met in New York on Tuesday for their fall meeting. One of the issues on the owners’ agenda was a potential new contract for commissioner Roger Goodell. ESPN claims that Jones was the lone opponent, but the owner of the New England Patriots was one of those in favour of the commissioner getting a new contract. Jones reportedly told Kraft, “Don’t f— with me,” after the two owners apparently got into a furious argument.
When Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan on Friday, the question of whether the allegation is true was raised. He didn’t dispute it.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked on @1053thefan about the report of him telling Patriots owner Robert Kraft, “Don’t f–k with me” at recent owners meeting:
“In this particular case, it’s probably accurate that I did express myself in probably a way that’s not in good taste.”

Jones apparently has a problem with how Goodell’s contract is set up. The 80-year-old, according to ESPN, wants Goodell’s contract to be based on bonuses and include specific guidelines for the financial benchmarks Goodell must hit to qualify for his bonuses. On Friday, Jones appeared to confirm this. Nevertheless, he made clear that he thought Goodell had performed “outstandingly” in his role as commissioner.
Jerry Jones: “Let me be real clear, I’m a real supporter of Roger Goodell as our commissioner. I think he’s done outstanding…(I had) an issue with the structure regarding how we were going to address the commissioner or his successor. (It was) not (about) my support for Roger.” https://t.co/JKbQ1OpMnG

The tension-filled moment was notable since Kraft and Jones are two of the NFL’s most influential players. The two owners are claimed to have gotten along well after their argument. For the other two owners, it cannot be said the same.
