Even though the Dallas Mavericks’ season-opening loss against the Phoenix Suns was upsetting, Luka Doncic still has a lot of nice things to say about the game.
Doncic discussed the positive aspects of their performance in the season opener with reporters on Friday. The Slovenian sensation thought the Mavs might be very dangerous if they were able to consistently reproduce the “how we played during the first half and part of the fourth quarter.”
“I believe we can have a wonderful season. It was obviously the first game. I feel pretty confident, but we need to improve,” Doncic said, according to Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News.
Luka Doncic has every reason to be optimistic about the Mavs’ potential as a team given how well they performed against the Suns in the first half. Recall that they led Phoenix by 17 points at the end of the first half, with a score of 62-45.
Of course, the Suns fought their way back in the second half, but an aggressive Mavs comeback in the last frame saw Luka and company tie the game at 105-105. Dallas can only be held responsible for their inability to end the game since Damion Lee’s game-winning shot prevented them from winning.
Fans of the Mavs undoubtedly anticipate that the second game will be completely different from the first. Fortunately, they have reason to assume Luka will be the one to lead the way and that will be the case.
Luka Doncic’s provocative analysis of the Mavericks’ defeat by the Suns serves as a stark warning to the rest of the NBA, according to ClutchPoints.
