Football enthusiasts, stand up as the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Chargers will face off in sunny Los Angeles in a game between two former division rivals! With that said, let’s take a sneak peek at our NFL odds series, where our prediction and choice for the Seahawks-Chargers game will be made.
The Seahawks were projected by oddsmakers to win only 5.5 games and finish last in the NFC West heading into the start of the season. A little more than a month later, Seattle is halfway to proving bookmakers around the country incorrect and has a decent 3-3 record. The Seahawks, led by quarterback Geno Smith and in their 13th season under head coach Pete Carroll, are eager to shock the football world once more as they take on the potent Chargers.
The Chargers defeated the Broncos on Monday Night Football by kicking a game-winning field goal in overtime, despite putting up a less than stellar effort. At 4-2, the Chargers can maintain their lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the division with a win at home against a stingy Seattle squad.

Why The Seahawks Could Cover The Spread
Following a stunning and convincing 19-9 home victory over the Cardinals, it was the Seahawks’ defence that spread its wings and gave the Seattle fans something to cheer about. The Seahawks are one of the few unexpected teams in the National Football League in 2022, tied for first place in the NF West with the Niners and Rams.
Through six games this season, Seattle’s defence has struggled most of the time and allowed more than 420 yards of total offence, including 27 points. However, Kyler Murray and the Cardinals’ offence were constantly outmatched by the Seahawks, who borrowed a page from the famed Legion of Boom. In fact, the Hawks limited Arizona’s total offence to only 315 yards last Sunday while also forcing two turnovers. Simply put, this club becomes much more dangerous and may challenge the explosive Chargers offence if defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt and his men duplicate their previous performance.
Not to add, Seattle will need Geno Smith to improve on his performance from a week ago, when he only completed 20 of his first 31 passes for 197 yards. Smith has been as accurate as possible overall, throwing nine touchdowns to just three interceptions. Seattle will continue to put pressure on the Chargers to score if Smith has a strong day.
Why The Chargers Could Cover The Spread
Many experts and observers believed that this Chargers club, who missed out on postseason action a year ago, might take that next step toward becoming a contender heading into the regular season. Los Angeles has so far been susceptible and inconsistent when compared to the rest of the AFC’s elite teams, despite the fact that they are currently sitting comfortable at 4-2. Since their shocking loss to Jacksonville a few weeks ago, Los Angeles has struggled to victories against Houston and Denver and hasn’t really looked very great lately.
The Chargers might be a little healthier for this weekend despite all of this and having had a short week. Los Angeles will be close to 100% for the first time all year if star wideout Keenan Allen, RB Joshua Kelley, WR Joshua Palmer, and even tight end Gerald Everett can suit up for the first time since Week 1. This is a very unsettling prospect.
It will also be intriguing to see how things play out defensively, since the Chargers were pounded by the Broncos early on before tightening the screws and halting them dead in their tracks. After taking cornerback J.C. Jackson off the field in the second half, LA appeared to be a stronger team the rest of the game. Jackson needs to step up if he wants to avoid getting burnt by DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, even if head coach Brandon Staley promised that Jackson will start when answering questions from reporters this week at practise. Even though this defence occasionally appears to be among the best in the league, they must have all of their stars performing at their peak if they hope to cover the spread.
Final Seahawks-Chargers Prediction & Pick
On the surface, Seattle still needs to perform, and it’s debatable whether a sizable enough sample size has been presented for us to have confidence in their ability to be proficient on offence and to play as they did on defence last weekend. Don’t be shocked if the Chargers start strong and humiliate the Hawks when it counts most.
