Christian McCaffrey, a running back with the Carolina Panthers, has reportedly been sold to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for several draught picks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 49ers will send a second-round pick, a third-round pick, and a fourth-round pick in 2023, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. In addition, the running back from the Pro Bowl received a fifth-round pick in 2024.
Undoubtedly, this is a major agreement that will alter the NFL landscape in general and the NFC West division in particular. McCaffrey joins a 49ers team that is tied for first place in the division with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks after playing his college football at Stanford University in California. The 49ers have a 3-3 record overall. The 49ers will play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 even though their subsequent contest is this Sunday. It’s unclear if McCaffrey will be able to participate in this game, but stay tuned to ClutchPoints for updates as they happen.
The Panthers’ rebuilding effort has now seen a second domino fall, so to speak. Following a Week 5 loss to the same 49ers for whom Christian McCaffrey will now be wearing the uniform, former head coach Matt Rhule was let go. The Panthers’ second-year player Chuba Hubbard and running back D’Onta Foreman will take over the team’s rushing duties next. The Panthers are 1-5 this year and are currently occupying last place in the NFC South division. Due to the removal of their most potent offensive weapon, the Panthers will have a difficult time making it to the 2022 championship game.
Panthers RB post First on ClutchPoints, it said, “Christian McCaffrey traded to 49ers in blockbuster deal.”
