This week, Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers has been the subject of numerous dubious trade rumours, most of which have been debunked. But according to a recent rumour, the Panthers are at least somewhat receptive to the idea of a trade.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Panthers are at least considering trade offers from other clubs for McCaffrey. But the Panthers are still keeping their asking price very high, and they don’t want to deal McCaffrey until they get a sizable offer that includes either a top draught pick or several future picks.
Two teams at least have had their inquiries concerning McCaffrey rejected this week. The Panthers have just four picks in the 2023 Draft, so they are obviously interested in picking up more. Trading McCaffrey might be a sensible but dangerous method to quicken a future rebuild.
It was reported earlier in the week that the Panthers were not interested in trading McCaffrey, and that still seems to be the case in general. However, the team appears open to at least giving competing teams a chance to outbid them.
Over the previous three seasons, McCaffrey has experienced a number of ailments. In 2019, the 26-year-final old’s season of good health, he accrued 2,392 total all-purpose yards.
