Playing on Thursday Night Football this week certainly isn’t the best thing for the New Orleans Saints and their desire to get healthy since they are one of the most battered teams in the NFL to begin the 2022 season. Whatever the case, their Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals is rapidly approaching, and it appears that a choice between Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton for the game’s starting quarterback is imminent.
Winston has been replaced by Dalton in the Saints’ last three games, and while he hasn’t exactly been spectacular, he has done a good job directing a meagre offence to scores on a regular basis. It appears likely that New Orleans will start Dalton at quarterback against the Cardinals in light of the aforementioned factors plus the fact that Winston didn’t practise fully once more in the lead-up to this game.
With no full practice yet for Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton continuing to run the offense well, another week of Dalton makes sense. https://t.co/WUPfz4xx65

Given that Winston has been suffering with back and ankle issues over the previous two weeks, this isn’t entirely unexpected. Dalton has been performing well while Winston, who has continued to practise for New Orleans, hasn’t been playing well given that he isn’t at full strength. There’s no purpose in hurrying his rehabilitation at this point in the season if he’s not healthy or performing well.
Although it isn’t confirmed yet, it is likely that the Saints will start Dalton against Arizona in Week 7. It’s worth noting that the offence has, in fact, managed to appear very strong with Dalton at the helm, so that’s not exactly the worst thing in the world. Dalton will need to start winning games if he wants to continue starting them, and he will have a wonderful chance to do it on Thursday night when the Cardinals play a team that is in need of a win.
