Heisman Trophy candidate Hendon Hooker, the quarterback for Tennessee, improved his résumé once more.
On Saturday, Tennessee had little issue taking care of business as the No. 6 team in the country defeated UT-Martin 65-24 at home. The Volunteers jumped out to a 52-7 advantage in the first half, effectively putting the game to bed.
Over the course of the game, Hooker dominated, amassing 276 throwing yards and three touchdowns. His first touchdown pass of the contest, which occurred after wide receiver Ramel Keyton scored on a catch of 8 yards in the opening frame, also created history.
Hooker’s pass set a record for the most games with a passing touchdown in a row (19). Heath Shuler, who excelled for the Volunteers during his three-season tenure with the squad from 1991 to 1993, had previously held the record.

That Hooker accomplished a feat that Manning did not during the course of his four seasons with the Volunteers is unquestionably amazing.
Overall, Hooker failed to record a passing touchdown in his debut game with Tennessee last season, but he has since been able to record at least one in each game. In 19 games played with the Volunteers, he has compiled an astonishing 49 touchdown passes overall.
With Tennessee currently having a 6-0 record and Hooker’s outstanding achievements thus far in the season, the redshirt senior continues to build a strong case for being the favourite to win the Heisman Trophy this year.
Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker of Tennessee boosts his chances with unbelievable achievement that even Peyton Manning has never accomplished.
