The San Francisco 49ers’ offence could see a significant improvement as a result of the signing of Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey is a versatile runner and receiver who will be able to use all of his skills for his new squad.

McCaffrey can act as a safety valve for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo because he has at least one catch in 57 straight games. He will be much more than just a backup receiver, though, because to his capacity for making significant gains after the catch. He is a major playmaker with the potential to make the Niners’ offence even more deadly.
With a mark of 52.7 yards after reception per game over the past five years, McCaffrey has led the NFL in that category. That’s fantastic news for the Niners, who are also led by Deebo Samuel (43.1 yards per game) and George Kittle as major contributors in that category (41.4 yards per game).
Three of the top four achievers in that category belong to San Francisco as a result. The only player other than a 49er in that category is Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers (45.0 yards per game).
Over the course of six games with the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey has caught 33 catches for 277 yards and one touchdown. He has also run for 393 yards on 85 carries, scoring twice. This season, McCaffrey has a 49-yard long receiving and a 49-yard long run.
While the defence deals with a number of ailments, the Niners are depending on Samuel, Kittle, McCaffrey, and Garoppolo to give the team an explosive and reliable attack. Christian McCaffrey’s presence should significantly lessen the load on the other important Niners players.
