Even though the Los Angeles Lakers dropped their second consecutive game on Thursday night, overall it wasn’t that horrible. Although losing to the Los Angeles Clippers 103-97 on Thursday was disappointing, there must be some positives to come out of LA’s 0-2 season start.
The Lakers performed better as a unit in this game than they did in their dreadful opening-night defeat to the Golden State Warriors. The contribution of newcomer Patrick Beverley in this regard is evident from Pat Bev’s passionate coaching of colleague Anthony Davis on the sidelines (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):

Although Beverley’s hysterical scream at the conclusion is entertaining, he must be commended for his work in promoting AD. One of the main reasons the Lakers selected Pat Bev over the offseason was his veteran leadership, and he has been contributing as expected.
Beverley has sadly had a really difficult time playing basketball in the two games he has so far played for the Lakers. The seasoned player made just one of seven shots for five points on Thursday against the Clippers. Even though Pat Bev is fantastic, LA needs him to improve significantly on offence.
Despite the optimistic gloss I’m trying to put on this, I have to concede that the Lakers’ current situation is unquestionably dire. The fact that they have a 0-2 record to begin the season is ultimately what counts the most. Even though things for the Lakers aren’t entirely horrible right now, they could definitely be a lot worse.
