Manager Aaron Boone is fully aware that the New York Yankees’ backs are already against the wall in their ALCS matchup with the Houston Astros. With the game moving back to New York and the Yankees trailing the ‘Stros 2-0, Boone is aware that his club will need to make some swift adjustments if they hope to avoid losing this series to Houston early.

When explaining the scenario the Yankees are in, Boone didn’t mince words. He is aware of the strength of the Astros’ lineup and their impending elimination from the postseason if they can’t find solutions to their current problems. Boone respects his opponent without a doubt, but he also realises that he has a limited amount of time to get his squad into this series.

We’re up against a heavyweight opponent, especially on the bump, said Aaron Boone.

The Astros are a heavyweight, therefore Aaron Boone is correct to call them that. They haven’t dropped a game yet in the playoffs, and they currently don’t appear to have any roster flaws. It will be difficult for the Yankees to win this series, but it is not impossible because they have many excellent players of their own on their roster.

But it feels like New York must win Game 3 of this series in front of their home fans in order for any comeback to be plausible. It also seems quite unlikely that this Astros club would stumble in these playoffs, even though they are aware from personal experience that a 3-0 hole can be overturned. The Yankees will continue to stand their ground against the Astros in Game 3, but they must perform at their highest level.

With the Yankees trailing the Astros by two games in the ALCS, Aaron Boone declares, “We’re fighting a heavyweight opponent.” The piece first published on ClutchPoints.
